Airline Shareholder Perks are some of the most elusive shareholder perks. Some airlines have recently removed them, like British Airways, but a large amount don't offer anything. We take a look at which airlines offer shareholder benefits. Wherever you are flying it is nice to get a free upgrade or something extra.
Unfortunately, airlines offering shareholder perks have decreased in recent years and getting a good value deal is only becoming more difficult. After the terror attacks in 2001 airlines lost billions and only returned to profitability in 2006. Over the last 20 years the airlines have been ravished by the 2008 global financial crisis and the 2020 pandemic.
Because of all these threats and challenges airlines have been forced to refocus and have cut many of their shareholders discounts.
So are there still airlines that offer their shareholders perks for investing their money into their business? The answer is yes! Our research team have searched all over the world to find the best airline shareholder perks available on the market.
All Nippon Airlines (TYO: 9202) is a worldwide airline that not only offers discounted airfare, they also offer their shareholders a chance to get discounts at individual airport shops, hotels and golf courses. It is one of the most popular and generous shareholder perks in the world.
Japan Airlines (TYO: 9201) is an airline founded in 1951 and they are very generous. Japan Airlines offer their shareholders regular vouchers to get 50% off their airfare. They also offer shareholders a long term discount plan for shareholders who hold their shares for a certain length of time.
Star Flyer (TYO: 9206) is a Japanese low-cost airline that was founded by ex-employees of both Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways. They went through an IPO in 2011 and they currently offer their shareholders special priced internal Japanese flights.
Jetstar Japan is a joint enterprise between Quantas, Japan Airlines, Mitsubishi Corporation and Tokyo Century Corporation. Unfortunately, they do not offer any shareholder perks.
Amaskusa Airlines are an airline operating in Japan only and is partly owned by three cities or towns and Japan Airlines, who hold a minority stake. They are a small airline employing only 58 staff.
New Japan Aviation was founded in 1969 and is a small airline, primarily flying between Niigata and Sado, but also operates to other airports in Japan.
Unfortunately, although America has some of the biggest airlines in the world, we have been unable to find any that offer airline shareholder perks. This might be because of various reasons, but it is a shame considering some of their competitor organisations do offer shareholder perks.
American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) is the biggest airline in the world and between itself and it's subsidiaries it can operate over 6,000 flights every day. Unfortunately, they do not offer their shareholders any additional perks.
Delta Airlines (NYSE: DAL) is the oldest operating airline in America, having history that goes all the way back to 1925. Unfortunately they do not offer their shareholders any additional perks.
Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) is an American low-cost airline that focuses on internal flight ls with a few going to local countries including Mexico and Costa Rica. They don't offer any shareholder perks at the time of writing.
Alaska Airlines (NYSE: ALK) is a well known and well established airline that focuses primarily on the West Coast.
Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) is an ultra low-cost airline which was founded in 1983 and has grown and changed over the years to become the airline we know today.
Although there are some airlines in the UK to have offered shareholder perks in the past, most notably British Airways, we have not found any proof that there are current UK airline shareholder schemes available currently. British Airways previously offered their shareholders a 10% discount of their airfare. However, when it was acquired by International Airlines Group, this shareholder perk ended.
British Airways used to offer their shareholders a 10% discount on their airline flights for a journey from to within the UK. Unfortunately, when IAG (LSE: IAG) took ownership of British Airways in 2011 they ceased operating the perk.
EasyJet (LON: EZJ) do not offer any shareholder perks to their customers. They believe that shareholders should benefit through increased business profits.
Loganair is a subsidiary of Airline Investments Limited and primarily operates around the north of the United Kingdom and also to the Isle of Man, unfortunately, they don't have public shareholders as they are a private company.
SAS Group (NASDAQ Stockholm: SAS) is a holding company for SAS Airlines they operate worldwide and is the flag carrier for Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Recently they have gone through a restructuring process which has altered the SAS Shareholder perks program.
Previously, SAS offered their shareholders special prices and access to Eurobonus Gold and Diamond program.
From October 2023 shareholders are not longer able to newly qualify for the SAS shareholder perk scheme and from February 2024, shareholders are no longer to able to register for the scheme. There are no current plans to extend the scheme again in 2025.
Air France-KLM (Euronext Paris: AF) is a merger between Air France and KLM to form one of the biggest airlines in the world. They operate a huge number of flights daily and have expanded into subsidiaries including Transavia along with Minority stakes in airlines such as Air Tahiti and Kenya Airlines.
They offer their shareholders additional shareholder perks, including;

Lufthasa Group (FWB: LHA) operate Lufthansa, along with a range of other European airlines including Austrian Airlines, Eurowings and Swiss International Air Lines.
Ryanair (ISE: RYA) is a low-cost airline which operates in Europe and Northern Africa. It was established in 1984 and since has growth to one of the most well-known cheap airlines in Europe. Unfortunately, they do not offer their shareholders any additional perks to owning shares.
Norwegian (OSE: NAS) is an airline operating primarily around Europe. They are the fourth largest low-cost carrier in Europe and offer regular flights on it's primary routes. Unfortunately, the company does not have any plans to launch a shareholder perks scheme.

Air Canada (TSX: AC) was founded in 1937 and is the biggest airline in Canada. They fly to over 190 destinations but unfortunately they do not offer their shareholders any shareholder benefits.
Turkish Airlines (BIST: THYAO) serves more destinations and more countries than any other airline in the world. It was founded in 1933 and operates a number of subsidiaries including Air Albania, Anadolu Jet and SunExpress
Air New Zealand (NZE: AIR) is a smaller airline than some and focuses mainly on flights around New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Asia and the Pacific Islands. It is the flag carrier of New Zealand and the New Zealand government is still a majority shareholder.
Quantas (ASX: QAN) was founded over 100 years ago and is based in Sydney. They have grown to be a significant airline in Oceania. Unfortunately, they do not currently have any additional benefits for being a shareholder.
Qatar Airways is the flag carrier of Qatar and flies to over 170 countries worldwide. They are a big sponsor of a range of sports events and teams including Barcelona FC, Alpine F1, Bayern Munich along with many more. They are wholly owned buy the Qatar Government and does not offer shares to be brought by shareholders.
Singapore Airlines (SGX: C6L) are recognised as one of the best airlines in the world. They fly all over the world and operates two of the longest flights in the world. Unfortunately, they do not offer their shareholder any additional perks in owning part of the business.
