The US stock market is famous for hosting some of the most lucrative stocks in the world. American stocks will mostly trade on either the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) and both offer benefits to the individual organisation.

The NYSE opened in 1792 and is the fourth oldest stock exchange in the world. It falls behind Philadelphia (1790), Paris (1724) and Amsterdam (1602).The NASDAQ opened in 1971 and was originally only a quoting system and not a way to perform any trading. However, over the years it became a hub of stock trading and became the first stock market in the US to trade online in 1998.
